Factoring Integers: Problem 5 

Rule 9:
To factor an integer, simply break the integer down into a group
of numbers whose product equals the original number.  Factors are separated by multiplication signs.  Note that the number 1 is the factor of every number.  All factors of a number can be divided evenly into that number.

Problem 5: Is 3 a factor of 10? Why?
Answer.  The factors of 10 are   
 .  3 is not a factor.  Another way to check to see whether 3 is a factor of 10 is to divide 10 by 3.  If the answer is even (no decimal), it is a factor.  If the answer is a decimal, 3 is not a factor of 10.  Since
