EXPONENTIAL RULES - Problem 1

Rule 1:To multiply identical bases, add the exponents.

Problem 1: Find tex2html_wrap_inline34 .

Answer: tex2html_wrap_inline36

Solution: When multiplying identical bases, simply add the exponents. In this case,

Recall that tex2html_wrap_inline40 means that you multiply 5 by itself 3 times, and tex2html_wrap_inline42 means that you multiply 5 by itself 10 times. The overall results is 5 times itself 13 times. An easier way to write the answer is to write it as tex2html_wrap_inline36 .

You can check your answer with your calculator. Calculate tex2html_wrap_inline34 and calculate tex2html_wrap_inline36 . If the answers are correct, then so are you.
